After an extensive search, Family Centers’ Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of Dr. Louis Josephson as its next president and CEO. He will start on April 21 and succeeds Bob Arnold, who is retiring after 43 years as the organization’s top executive.
Josephson comes to Family Centers in Greenwich with more than three decades of professional experience leading mental health and human services organizations. Most recently, he served as CEO at Bay Cove Human Services in Boston, Massachusetts, a complex nonprofit serving people with mental health, addiction, homelessness and developmental needs. Before that he was the CEO of The Brattleboro Retreat, Vermont’s largest regional free-standing psychiatric health system.
“With an extensive background in nonprofit leadership, the board is confident that Louis will successfully guide Family Centers into this exciting next chapter,” said Kate Clark, Family Centers’ board chair. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an exceptional ability to build relationships, inspire teams and drive impactful change. Louis is also an accomplished social worker and is acutely familiar with the challenges many of our families face.”
Josephson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Tufts University and a Master of Science from the Columbia University School of Social Work. He later earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work from New York University Shirley M. Ehrenkranz School of Social Work.
Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering health, education and human service programs to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 300 professionals and 500 trained volunteers work together to provide more than 26,000 residents with a holistic, wrap-around approach to care. Family Centers is Joint Commission accredited in ambulatory health care, behavioral health care and human services. Family Centers’ Early Care and Education programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the agency is licensed by the State of Connecticut’s Department of Public Health and Department of Children and Families.
