Greenwich Jiu Jitsu Academy, the town’s first formal jiu jitsu studio and a rapidly growing community hub, recently announced the expansion of its successful Guardian Greenwich Scholarship Program, which has already changed the lives of local youth through confidence-building martial arts training, is opening up additional spots for 2026 to reach even more students in need.
The scholarship program was created in partnership with Guardian Training, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering children through jiu jitsu. Since its launch, the initiative has helped students of all backgrounds gain access to transformative training supporting physical health, mental resilience, anti-bullying skills and the sense of belonging that Greenwich Jiu Jitsu is known for.
“Jiu jitsu gives kids tools that last far beyond the mat – confidence, discipline, and a community that believes in them,” said founders Jeff and Jen Morris. “Expanding this scholarship means opening the door for more children who deserve the chance to thrive.”

Applicants of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, especially students who may benefit from confidence-building mentorship or who have limited access to extracurricular opportunities.
Greenwich Jiu Jitsu is inviting community members, local businesses and supporters to contribute. Even a small donation directly supports a student’s training, gear and participation in a program that has already demonstrated real, measurable life impact.
