Carter Morse & Goodrich (CMG) in Southport, Connecticut, recently advised shareholders of Unger Enterprises (Unger) on its recent sale to Bissell Inc. The combination brings together two multigenerational family-owned businesses with global reach and common cultures.
Unger is a leading cleaning solutions and product platform that designs, manufactures and sells premier cleaning products to professionals, prosumers and retail consumers worldwide. Bissell is a fifth-generation family-owned company specializing in the production and marketing of cleaning products for the residential and commercial markets worldwide.
Michael Carter, CMG’s managing partner, said, “For CMG, it was a privilege to advise the second generation of the Unger family — first on their purchase of the company from their parents in 1995, and now, nearly 30 years later, on its successful sale. This was the first transaction in our 38-year history whereby CMG advised the same generation of a family on both the acquisition and the sale of the same business.
Throughout our three-decade relationship, CMG advised the Unger family. We are especially proud to have served as their chief exit advisor on this important transaction with Bissell. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to brothers Mark, Dane and Jan Unger on this extraordinary achievement.”
