TEANECK, NJ – Interstate Waste Services Inc. has expanded its presence across central and southern Connecticut by acquiring North Atlantic Waste & Recycling of North Haven.
“We’re excited to welcome North Atlantic Waste & Recycling, a respected family-owned business, to the IWS team,” said Mike DiBella, founder and CEO of IWS, a leading provider of solid waste collection, recycling and disposal services. “This acquisition strengthens our presence in Connecticut and affirms our ongoing commitment to delivering dependable, community-focused service. Together, we’re building on a shared legacy of operational excellence and customer-first values to better serve the region.”
Mike Couden, owner of North Atlantic Waste & Recycling, sees the acquisition as one that strengthens his company’s legacy.
“After decades of serving our community as a family-owned business, we’re proud to join forces with Interstate Waste Services,” Couden said. “IWS shares our commitment to reliability, integrity, and putting customers first. This partnership ensures our legacy continues while enhancing the resources and support available to our team and the communities we serve.”
Through the acquisition, IWS will integrate North Atlantic’s full-service offerings, its dedicated team of employees, and full fleet into its operations. These additions further strengthen IWS’s operational capacity in Connecticut and reinforce its commitment to delivering first-class service.
The acquisition follows a series of strategic moves aimed at strengthening IWS’s market leadership, including the purchase of Seaside Waste Services in Central and Southern New Jersey, Pinto Service, Inc. in northern New Jersey, Oak Ridge Waste & Recycling in Southwestern Connecticut and Suburban New York, as well as Marangi Disposal, the largest independent hauler in Orange and Rockland counties.
As Interstate Waste Services continues to expand its footprint, the company remains committed to sustainability, operational excellence, and community-focused service.
