CBS Radio announced Oct. 8 it had signed an agreement to purchase New York radio station 101.9 FM from Merlin Media for $75 million and that it will begin simulcasting Sports Radio 66 WFAN later this fall.
WFAN, known as The Fan, will continue to be broadcast on-air at 660 AM, in addition to being broadcast online and on various mobile devices.
The Fan launched in 1987 as a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week sports talk radio station.
The transaction is subject to regulatory and other approvals, CBS Radio parent company CBS Corp. said.
