The Pace University School of Law recently announced two initiatives to make education more affordable in the coming academic year. The school will freeze tuition and offer what it says is the nation”™s first tuition matching program for out-of-state students.
The tuition matching program will allow students from throughout the U.S. to attend Pace, in White Plains, for the in-state tuition rate for public law schools in their home state. The tuition freeze means Pace Law”™s full-time tuition of $45,376 will remain the same next year.
“The affordability of education has become a critical issue, and this program is a unique approach to making a first-rate legal education more accessible to students across the country,” David Yassky, Pace Law School dean, said in a press release. “Law school enrollment has declined in recent years even as complex legal issues are becoming an increasingly common part of today”™s business environment. This initiative will provide a broader population of students with a road map for successfully entering the legal field without the crushing weight of unmanageable debt.”
The in-state tuition rate at public law schools across the country is lower than Pace”™s, according to the press release. This year”™s tuition at the University of Arkansas Law School is $14,508. In-state resident tuition rates for public law schools in Florida, Texas and Massachusetts are $22,230, $33,162 and $18,402, respectively.
