Jackson Lewis, the fast-expanding workplace law firm headquartered in White Plains, this month began operating as a professional corporation after 12 years as a limited liability partnership.
The firm was renamed Jackson Lewis P.C. as of Dec. 1. Its partners are now called shareholders.
Jackson Lewis officials said the change in formal business structure was a result of the firm”™s expansion in recent years to include 765 lawyers in 54 offices in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. They said the corporate structure allows more internal operational flexibility than an L.L.P.
Founded in New York City in 1958 as Jackson & Lewis, the labor law firm later was named Jackson, Lewis Schnitzler & Krupman before its attorneys in 2001 formed a limited liability law partnership, Jackson Lewis L.L.P.
