EAST HARTFORD – Pratt & Whitney and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) resumed contract negotiations on Thursday, May 22, according to a company statement.
The union issued the following statement late Thursday: “Your Negotiating Committee is pushing hard at the table to get an agreement that we can bring back to the membership. We have also set aside Friday, May 23, 2025, for additional discussions. With that, we have reserved the Oakdale (Theater) for Tuesday in order to vote a new agreement! Please keep the lines strong!”
The company stated it “remains committed to reaching a new agreement that reflects the value of our employees’ contributions and supports the long-term future of high-skill manufacturing jobs in Connecticut.”
About 3,000 union machinists represented by IAM Union Locals 700 and 1746 at aerospace engine maker Pratt & Whitney voted to go on strike Sunday, May 4. The strike began the next day.
According to the union’s negotiating committee, the company failed to adequately address the membership’s top concerns about wage and retirement security and offered nothing to improve job security.
