A Putnam County woman who underwent plastic surgery at a Harrison clinic last year claims that the doctor and medical staff caused permanent injuries by performing the procedure and post-operative care negligently.
Amy Colatruglio accused Dr. Christian Guzman and Cosmetic Surgery Associates of New York of medical malpractice, in a March 25 complaint filed in Westchester Supreme Court.

They deviated from standard medical practices, the complaint states, and “negligently performed her plastic surgery operation.”
Dr. Guzman is a board certified plastic surgeon, according to his profile on the medical practice’s website, and is experienced in a wide range of procedures.
Colatruglio sought treatment from Dr. Guzman in August 2025 and underwent surgery on Oct. 16 at the Cosmetic Surgery Associates suite in the 440 Mamaroneck Ave. office building in Harrison. The complaint does not identify the procedure.
After the procedure, she alleges, Dr. Guzman and medical staff failed to properly examine or monitor her wounds, recognize signs of an infection, or heed her complaints of pain, fatigue and malaise. When her wounds became septic, the complaint states, she was not referred for an infectious disease consultation or sent to an emergency room.
Colatruglio claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries: sepsis, delayed wound healing, permanent scarring, pain, distress, and psychological damages.
She accused the doctor and medical practice of malpractice and of failure to obtain informed consent for medical procedures. Her husband, Joseph, accused them of depriving him of her services, society, consortium and companionship. They are demanding unspecified monetary damages.
Dr. Guzman and Cosmetic Surgery Associates did not immediately reply to a message submitted through their website on April 1, asking for their side of the story.
The Colatruglios are represented by attorney Ian S. Henderson, of Sattler Law Group P.C., New Rochelle.
