REDDING – The continuing care retirement community Meadow Ridge recently donated $12,500 to the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company to help update firefighting gear and other essential equipment.
“We believe strongly in supporting the honorable mission of the department and wanted to express our gratitude for their important contributions to our community,” said Meadow Ridge CFO Mark Gapski. “Welcoming them to our community on a gorgeous fall day was a great way for our residents to share their appreciation for the volunteer firefighters and EMTs who are, in many ways, an extension of the Meadow Ridge team.”
The fire department brought several pieces of equipment to the community for residents and associates to explore.
“We wanted the residents and associates at Meadow Ridge to get to know us outside of the calls we respond to,” said GVFC Chief Don Baker. “This donation will help us stay current with the technology to deliver the best services to not only Meadow Ridge but the greater community.”
Georgetown Fire has two engines and two ambulances, providing fire and emergency medical services to portions of Redding, Wilton, and Weston.
“We were delighted to spend time with our neighbors from Georgetown Fire and were impressed by their skill and expertise,” said resident Carol Morgan. “They are a vital resource in the community and I think we all have greater piece of mind knowing they are only a call away.”
Meadow Ridge, developed by Senior Care Development, LLC and managed by Benchmark Senior Living, is one of Connecticut’s most comprehensive continuing care retirement communities. The campus sits on 136 acres and offers 285 independent living apartment homes, as well as assisted living and memory care.
