Benchmark at Mount Pleasant, an assisted living and Mind & Memory Care community opening this fall in Thornwood, has announced the opening of its welcome center.
Located at 617 Columbus Ave. in the Columbus Plaza down the street from the community’s eventual location, the welcome center introduces seniors and their families to the Benchmark Experience built over the past 27 years throughout the Northeast, including in Fairfield County.
“Not only will visitors get to see and experience what the community will be when it opens, but they will have the opportunity to feel our vibrant company culture and values, which is what really sets
us apart,” said Sara Humphreys, executive director of Benchmark at Mount Pleasant, who was drawn to work for Benchmark after seeing the effect it had on her own grandmother, a resident of the Stamford Benchmark community, Edgehill. “The positive responses and interest we’ve already received have been fantastic, and we are thrilled to be taking this additional step towards our grand opening this fall.”
The welcome center offers would-be residents a glimpse into the lifestyle afforded by Benchmark’s personalized care, programs and amenities in a space that contains 100 apartments of various sizes and floor plans. Visitors will get to know the community’s many features, including a dining program offering chef-prepared, seasonal meals, cooking demonstrations and classes in the dining room and café or on the patio, a game room, a movie theater, arts programming, a fitness center and a hair salon.
For those who need care now or are seeking independent assisted living and want the assurances of knowing its available in the future, Benchmark at Mount Pleasant will have an enhanced license, enabling the community to provide advanced care capabilities. Additional supportive health-care services, such as physician and nursing visits, will also be available on-site.
For spouses or individuals with memory impairment, Benchmark at Mount Pleasant will feature the company’s Mind & Memory Care program in a carefully created secure living environment that feels like home and includes dedicated features like a private courtyard, sunroom and hair salon. Assisted living with memory care residents is supported by care providers who have been educated in memory loss, communication, empathy and more.
Benchmark at Mount Pleasant is under construction at 2 Zeiss Drive in Thornwood around the corner from ACME Market, Westwood Swimming & Tennis Association and EF Academy.
