The 2010 Westchester summer jobs program is calling Westchester County businesses to hire a young adult ages 18 to 21 for six to eight weeks this summer at $1,600.
Sponsorships are needed for a six-week “Employment Enrichment Program” for youth ages 14 to 17, which consists of 25 hours per week at $1,000 per youth.
The program is a collaboration between The Business Council of Westchester, the Westchester/Putnam Workforce Investment Board, County Executive Robert P. Astorino, the United Way of Westchester/Putnam Volunteer Center and private sector sponsors.
The Westchester Summer Job Program in past years operated through public funding.
This year, organizers aim to connect private sector employers with 500 economically disadvantaged youth who seek work experience.
