As part of a $100 million update to the White Plains Hospital campus, four new state-of-the-art operating rooms opened earlier this month.
The rooms, which are about 650 to 700 square feet, are designed to accommodate new technology, equipment and systems. These include a da Vinci robotic surgical tool that performs minimally invasive surgeries such as prostactectomies and nephrectomies, new surgical video equipment with infrared and other visual-enhancing technology, and a new sterile area that is specifically for equipment that helps decrease the risk of infection.
The four new operating rooms were preceded by another, which was designed and equipped with the same technology, and was completed in 2013.
The hospital”™s updates are part of an overhaul and renovation project that have included a new six-story patient tower with 24 private patient rooms, and updates to the lobby, entrance, labor and delivery wing and cancer center. Construction is also being completed to add a second cardiac catheterization laboratory.
White Plains Hospital is part of the Montefiore Health System.
