Dr. Simeon Schwartz, president of The Westchester Medical Group of White Plains, is participating in the planning process for an open national competition designed to generate new ways to address challenges in the nation”™s health care system.
Some $10 million will be awarded to the winning company or individual, it was announced by WellPoint Inc., a health benefits company; the WellPoint Foundation, one of the largest corporate foundations in the U.S.; and the X Prize Foundation, the California-based foundation that helped launch the first private manned space flight in 2004.
Schwartz was tapped to join the contest because of his field expertise and concerns about the rising costs of health care, the organizers said.
