NewYork-Presbyterian has launched a new smartphone application for patients of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and the NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network.
That network includes NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville; NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Division in White Plains and NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor.
Developed by the NewYork-Presbyterian Innovation Center, the app is designed to enhance the patient experience by improving access and communication with the hospital and its physicians, hospital officials said. Initial features include a find-a-physician tool that enables patients to quickly find any medical specialist at any NewYork-Presbyterian location; mobile bill payment; hospital services information, including directions to hospitals and information about primary care and specialty services with contact information for appointment scheduling and questions; and access to the @NYPHospital Twitter feed for all of the latest news from NewYork-Presbyterian.
“We treat more than two million patients each year,” said Dr. Steven J. Corwin, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian. “This technology will allow us to create new touchpoints and enhance communication, which benefits both our patients and our physicians.”
Hospital officials said the institution”™s innovation center is working on new features to include in future updates to the app. Among them are a visitor”™s guide with an interactive map of the hospital to help patients and their families prepare for their stay, as well as enhanced telehealth features including virtual follow-up appointments, second opinions and remote patient monitoring.
The free app is available on the Apple App Store. The Android version will be available in the Google Play Store in February.
