Dr. Robert Small, an orthopedic surgeon, has begun a two-year term as president of the medical and dental staff at White Plains Hospital, a hospital spokesperson announced on Friday.
The Briarcliff Manor resident succeeds Dr. Alfred Roston, a gastroenterologist with the Digestive Disease & Nutrition Center of Westchester, in the president”™s post.
Small specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery in his practice at the White Plains Hospital Physician Associates Orthopedic Specialists Group. He also serves as director of the Westchester Orthopedics Institute of White Plains Hospital. A White Plains Hospital staff member since 1983, he is chief emeritus of orthopedics at the hospital.
A graduate of New York Medical College and emeritus member of its orthopedics staff, he has taught as an orthopedic surgery instructor at both his alma mater and The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and as a senior clinical associate in surgery at Cornell University Medical College.
Dr. Benjamin Marano, of Chappaqua, a board-certified gastroenterologist specializing in the treatment of digestive diseases, is the new vice president of the hospital”™s medical and dental staff. The hospital spokesperson said he is affiliated with the Digestive Disease & Nutrition Center in Harrison.
Dr. Paul Pechman, of Scarsdale Medical Group in Harrison, was named staff secretary and treasurer.
