Looking for partners in a more cost-efficient, quality-measuring and coordinated health care system, the Mount Kisco Medical Group has expanded its clinical affiliation agreement with Mount Sinai Health System in New York City.
The physician-owned multispecialty practice, which includes more than 300 doctors in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties, will continue to operate as an independent entity, officials at the partnering organizations said in a recent press release.
Dr. Scott D. Hayworth, president and CEO of Mount Kisco Medical Group P.C., said the Westchester group has been a Mount Sinai affiliate for about 18 years. Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston will remain the practice”™s primary hospital affiliation, he said.
Mount Kisco Medical Group already sends patients to Mount Sinai and Mass General for advanced-level care, Hayworth said. He said the expanded New York affiliation “will enhance that” by creating a “more seamless passage” of patients and medical information between the group”™s Hudson Valley medical offices and Mount Sinai.
In the rapidly changing world of medicine, Hayworth said, the medical group needs to look at cost-efficient institutions with which to partner. “In the New York market, Sinai is a very (cost) competitive provider for tertiary care,” he said.
Hayworth and Dr. Kenneth L. Davis, president and CEO of the Mount Sinai Health System, said the partners will work together to develop Centers of Excellence in select medical specialties. Hayworth said some specialists from Mount Sinai could see patients at medical group offices in Westchester.
Dr. Jeremy Boal, chief medical officer of the Mount Sinai Health System, in the press release said the collaboration “is built on a foundation of mutual respect and a bilateral commitment to the highest quality of care. I am confident that together we will bring additional value to the communities we serve.”
The Mount Sinai Health System includes approximately 6,600 physicians; 12 minority-owned, free-standing, ambulatory surgery centers; more than 45 outpatient practices throughout the five boroughs, Westchester and Long Island; and 31 affiliated community health centers.
At Mount Kisco Medical Group, “Our goal is to be the one-stop shopping for patients” that meets all their health care needs, Hayworth said. He said the practice will continue to form new partnerships to help achieve that.
