Ron Cohen, president and CEO of Ardsley-based Acorda Therapeutics Inc., has been elected chairman of the board of directors for the Biotechnology Industry Organization.

Cohen, who previously served as chairman of BIO’s Emerging Companies Section governing board and vice chairman of the Health Section governing board, will serve as BIO”™s chairman for a year and then will be eligible for another year if re-elected.
Cohen also will serve as chairman of BIO’s Health Section governing board.

BIO is the world”™s largest biotechnology trade association and represents companies, academic institutions and state biotechnology centers in more than 30 countries, the organization said.
