Premier Brands of America Inc. on Pearl Street in Mount Vernon, a manufacturer of branded and private-label foot and health care products, moved its corporate offices to a newly renovated loftlike space on South Street.
The company will be moving 20 employees into approximately 6,500 square feet of the new office; manufacturing operations will continue at the current center where some 120 employees will remain.
Business is seemingly strong in the downturn.
“It”™s impacted us by resulting in double-digit growth,” said Steve Corsun, CEO. “It”™s almost embarrassing, but we”™re doing quite well right through this recession. Sales are good. There seems to be a big shift to private-label, value brands in a poor economy.”
Customers are looking for solutions, said Pat O”™Brien, general manager.
“Everyday occurrences like aching feet ”“ those problems don”™t go away,” he said. “Things like gel insoles and anything to do with comfort are doing well.”
Premier sells products to drug, food and retail chains in the U.S. and Canada, beginning first as a shoe-fitting product company in 1972, Corsun said.
Having made the move from Brooklyn 15 years ago, Corsun said Mount Vernon is an ideal spot for vendors, employees and manufacturing.
“We had the option to move around, but we like it here,” Corsun said. “I think this is a clear statement that Westchester County is the place to have a business.”
