The city of White Plains will begin reaching out to residents directly with a ‘question of the week’ in an attempt to increase public engagement in its Downtown White Plains Transit District Study.
The questions will be posted on the White Plains Transit District website and those who have contacted the transit district website in the past will receive an email notification whenever a new question is posted. The city will also promote the questions through its social media accounts.
The study is part of an effort by the city to consider how best to redevelop the area known as the transit district, a section of downtown White Plains which includes the White Plains Metro-North station and Westchester Bee-Line Bus Station.
The questions will address issues such as green space, transportation to and from the station and amenities in the area.
The city has also scheduled multiple public engagement meetings and open houses to gather feedback for the study. Here’s the schedule:
- Community open house for Fisher Hill, Battle Hill, Ferris Ave: 7 p.m., April 11, Church Street School Cafeteria, 295 Church Street.
- Downtown and White Plains BID community open house: 7 p.m., April 18, New York Power Authority, Jaguar Room, 123 Main Street.
- Public engagement meeting: 6:30 p.m., June 15, location to be determined.
- Public engagement meeting: 6:30 p.m., Sept. 28, location to be determined.
