The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced a partial list of the commemorative stamps that it will release in 2024.
“As always, our stamp program features a broad array of subjects and designs,” said Lisa Bobb-Semple, acting Stamp Services director for USPS. “Stamps are miniature works of art and often tell a story that highlights our American culture, our people or an important point in our history. Stamps also allow us to show what’s important to us as we carefully select which stamp adorns our mailpieces. The 2024 stamps were designed to offer the American public a broad array of choices for those looking to collect stamps or send a special message.”
The USPS 2024 stamps list includes attorney and judge Constance Baker Motley, Nobel Prize-winning novelist Saul Bellow and 10 individuals involved in the Underground Railroad including Frederick Douglass and Tubman. New stamps celebrating the Lunar New Year, Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are also scheduled, along with postage-framed calls for species preservation of manatees and sea turtles.
Images from outer space captured by the James Webb Space Telescope will be featured on Priority Mail stamps, while a new series of low denomination stamps will showcase flower designs. And the 250th anniversary of the First Continental Congress will also be available next year.
