Some 137,000 jobs have disappeared from New York City north along the Hudson River to Sullivan County, over a 15-year period, as businesses moved to other parts of the state or the U.S.
This according to the Empire Center for New York State Policy. As reported by staff writer Alex Soule in this week”™s edition, “As a percentage of total employment, New York”™s net job migration loss was the largest of any state ”¦ with New Jersey gaining the most jobs at New York”™s expense. Connecticut attracted the second-largest number of jobs due to companies relocating from New York.”
More bad news for a very troubled state.
And a further reminder that we can no longer tolerate the status quo.
November will offer an opportunity to get your message out to office-holders seeking re-election.
That message? Our representatives must start to pay serious attention to the needs of the business community.
