Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced an outreach effort to promote business support services with the help of chambers of commerce across the state.
Cuomo said Tuesday his office would be working with more than 100 chambers in the state, including the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce and the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
“From managing day-to-day operations to finding the right employees, our administration offers a variety of services that can open doors to a more competitive future for any company,” Cuomo said in a statement.
The services being promoted as part of the outreach include human resources consultation, the state Jobs Express (an online jobs database) and access to tax credits for hiring disadvantaged youths.
The governor”™s office said the Department of Labor is surveying chambers about their member businesses”™ needs.
Ellen Daly, of the Orange County chamber, complimented the professionalism of state representatives working with the local chamber. “The no-cost services made available to our members by the Business Services representatives from the Department of Labor will help our businesses thrive and contribute favorably to economic development in Orange County,” she said.
Deb Million, executive director of Hudson Valley Gateway chamber, said businesses could save time and money by using the Labor Department”™s services.
