Fairfield County”™s only Red Robin Gourmet Burgers eatery has been closed as part of a companywide austerity effort.
The restaurant in the Danbury Fair Mall opened on Nov. 11, 2013, and is one of 10 locations that the chain is closing this quarter. The Greenwood Village, Colorado-headquartered Red Robin stated the closings were “expected to drive improved profitability” for a company that saw its first quarter total revenues fall by 2.8% to $409.9 million from $421.5 million in the first quarter of 2018.
In addition to the Danbury location, Red Robin is also shuttering its eatery at the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford. In Connecticut, Red Robin will continue to operate in West Hartford, Manchester and Enfield.
The company had 572 locations at the end of the quarter, with 483 company owned.
