The first fall staging of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week will kick off Nov. 5 and continue through Nov. 18 in Westchester County and five other counties in the region.
The 14-day celebration of fine dining and culinary artists features three-course meals priced at $20.95 for lunch and $29.95 for dinner. More than 150 restaurants throughout the region will participate.
“There”™s been an explosion of great local food in the Hudson Valley,” Janet Crawshaw, publisher of The Valley Table magazine and founder of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, said in a press release. “From casual neighborhood eateries to eighteenth-century inns, luxury hotel restaurants with sweeping views to stylish riverfront hot spots, the Hudson Valley has it all.”
Westchester, with nearly 90 restaurants participating in the fall event, is the first stop on a 100-mile stretch of eateries in the valley.
“Restaurant Week is really a celebration of the Hudson Valley” and its farmers, growers, winemakers and chefs,” said Peter Kelly, chef and owner of Xaviars Restaurant Group and co-chair of the restaurant week advisory board. “It”™s a collaborative effort.”
Now in its sixth year, the event has been successful for restaurants and diners alike, according to restaurateurs.
“It”™s been wildly successful for the Kittle House and for just about every restaurant that I know that participates,” said Glenn Vogt, managing partner of Crabtree”™s Kittle House in Chappaqua. “The opportunity to get new customers through the door, to show off and hope they can come back again, that”™s really the benefit for us.”
For diners, it”™s an opportunity to taste the best the Hudson Valley has to offer.
Chef Vincent Barcelona of Harvest on Hudson Restaurant in Hastings said a bounty of squash, pumpkin, apples and pears from farms in the valley will be on his menu and prepared in new ways for Restaurant Week”™s fall debut. “It”™s what the harvest is all about,” he said.
