World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. is bringing back Saturday morning programming for children, even as it continues working on its own television network with no immediate launch date set.
Stamford-based WWE will air “WWE Saturday Morning Slam” on The CW beginning Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. WWE has not had a Saturday morning show since 2001.
In addition to wrestling matches and profiles, the show will include highlights from WWE”™s “be a STAR” anti-bullying campaign and other community initiatives.
“WWE has a long history on Saturday mornings,” said WWE CEO Vince McMahon, in a prepared statement. “The new program enables us to further engage kids and families, a vital component of WWE”™s passionate and multi-generational fan base.”
