The WorkPlace in Bridgeport is seeking nominations for veterans who volunteer their time for its Service to Country and Community Award.
“This is an opportunity to acknowledge individuals who selflessly make our communities a better place to live and often go unrecognized,” according to a WorkPlace statement.
Past recipients include an educator who went on to become a school principal, a board member at Homes for the Brave, trained emergency first responders and a youth sports coach.
The selection committee will consist of representatives from Port 5 Naval Veterans, Housatonic Community College, Alpha Community Services, The WorkPlace”™s Valor Programs and the Connecticut Department of Labor”™s Office for Veterans Workforce Development.
The luncheon event will be held Nov. 1 at Port 5 Naval Veterans in Bridgeport.
