Two Fairfield towns were ranked among the top 10 earning towns in the country by CNN Money Magazine in its annual “Best Places to Live” issue.
The 10,000-person town of Weston ranked No. 2 in Money”™s “Top Earning Towns” list with a median family income of $275,154. New Canaan, population 20,000, ranked No. 5 with a median family income of $236,758.
Weston, with a median home price of $755,000, was noted for its small school system, 1,700-acre nature preserve and zoning with minimum lot sizes of two acres paving the way for what CNN Money termed “sprawling estates.”
“In picturesque Weston, you can see your neighbors if you”™re feeling sociable, but you don”™t necessarily have to,” the magazine stated.
New Canaan, median home price $1.1 million, was noted for its schools, proximity to both New York City and Stamford, and its walkable downtown.
Topping the list was Scarsdale in nearby Westchester, with a median family income of $291,542. No. 10 in the ranking was Rye, with a median family income of $221,457
