Greenwich-based Weld North Holdings L.L.C. acquired Editure Professional Development Inc. and JBHM Education Group, with plans to merge the companies into a single consultancy focused on Common Core State Standards and other school needs.
The companies did not disclose financial terms.
The new company will be based in New York City where Editure is based, and will have as CEO Justin Serrano, a former executive with Kaplan Inc. which Weld North founder Jonathan Grayer previously led. The new company will also consult on utilizing technology in the classroom, turning around schools, and teacher effectiveness.
JBHM has its main office in Jackson, Miss.
“The implementation of the Common Core Standards, coupled with increasing rigor for teacher evaluation has presented a unique opportunity to create a national provider of school improvement and professional development services,” Grayer said, in a prepared statement.
“By combining these two independently exceptional organizations, we will immediately create one of the largest independent players in school improvement and professional development. This move, as well as our earlier investment in Education2020, furthers Weld North’s intention to play a significant role in tackling the country’s difficult K-12 education challenges.”
