A Quinnipiac University poll released June 24 shows a lack of confidence on the part of U.S. voters that the settlement outlined in President Trump’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Iran will work and a continuation of the overall sentiment that the war itself was not worthwhile.
Asked how confident they are that Trump’s deal with Iran as outlined in the MOU that is designed to guide additional negotiations will work, 59% of the voters who participated in the poll expressed doubts. They could choose “not so confident” (19%) or “not confident at all” (40%) that the settlement effort will work. On the other hand, 11% were “very confident” and 26% were “somewhat confident” that it will work.
Sixty percent of voters polled by Quinnipiac said the U.S. military action against Iran was not worth it, while 34% approved.
Sixty-one percent of voters think it is either very likely (21%) or somewhat likely (40%) that Iran will develop nuclear weapons, while 21% think it is not so likely and 12% said it is not likely at all.

“After months of diplomatic fits and starts, global economic repercussions and a broad loss of life in the region, a majority of voters make their feelings clear: the Iran war was a bad idea,” said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.
Forty-five percent of voters say the U. S. is in a weaker position in the world as a result of the U.S. war while 33% say it has made the U.S. stronger and 20% say the war has not changed the country’s position in the world.
When it comes to the relationship between the U. S. and Israel, 48% say they think the U.S. is too supportive of Israel, while 38% think the U.S. support of Israel is about right, and 7% think the U.S. is not supportive enough of Israel.
When it comes to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 20% of voters have a favorable opinion of him, while 48% have an unfavorable opinion of him, and 30% say they haven’t heard enough about him to have an opinion.
“Netanyahu gets poor marks from American voters as their appetite for supporting Israel wanes, with the share of voters who think the U.S. is too supportive of Israel hitting a new high,” Malloy said.
Approval of the job Trump is doing inched up a bit in the new poll compared with Quinnipiac’s May 20 poll. Thirty-eight percent of voters approve of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president, while 55% disapprove. In Quinnipiac’s May 20 poll, 34% of voters approved of the way Trump was handling his job and 58% disapproved.
When it comes to Trump’s health, 59% think the White House is not being transparent about Donald Trump’s health, while 34% percent think the White House is being transparent. Fifty percent of voters think Donald Trump is not physically healthy, while 46 percent think he is. Fifty-one percent of voters think Donald Trump is not mentally healthy, while 46% think he is.
The Quinnipiac poll found that 70% of voters think the Trump administration is not doing enough to hold associates of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein accountable, while 17% think the Trump administration is doing enough. A vast majority of voters (73%) approve of the U.S. House Oversight Committee’s investigation of the federal government’s handling of the Epstein case, while 19% disapprove.
