More than 240 volunteers from 13 local businesses and corporations will volunteer in Stamford community service projects organized through United Way of Western Connecticut, a Danbury-based volunteer center.
Businesses will help 12 Stamford nonprofit agencies in projects that will take place Wednesday and during the last two weeks of June. Projects include cleaning up playgrounds, landscaping, painting and planting gardens.
“Volunteers are the foundation of every successful organization and every thriving community,” Â said Kim Morgan, CEO of United Way of Western Connecticut, in a statement. “We are grateful to be surrounded by so many socially responsible companies who truly value volunteerism and who encourage their employees to dedicate a workday to volunteering.”
The volunteer event will save nonprofits thousands of dollars in maintenance costs, according to a United Way press release. Local businesses have also donated thousands of dollars worth of materials and supplies to support the volunteer event.
The economic value the service projects and volunteers will contribute to Stamford is estimated to be $32,000, according to the press release.
