
A majority of voters (53%) think the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent was not justified, while 35 percent think it was justified, and 12 percent did not offer an opinion, according to results of a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Also, 82% of the registered voters queried said they had seen a video of the Jan. 7 shooting.
Democrats (92% – 4%) and independents (59% – 28%) think the shooting of Renee Nicole Good was not justified, while Republicans (77% – 10%) think the shooting was justified.
Among men, 44% think the shooting was not justified, while 42% think it was justified. Among women, 61% think the shooting was not justified, while 30% think it was justified.
ICE enforcement of immigration laws
When asked about the way ICE is enforcing immigration laws: 40% of voters approve and 57% disapprove, which is nearly identical to Quinnipiac University’s July 16, 2025 poll.
Noem job approval
When asked about the way Kristi Noem is handling her job as secretary of Homeland Security: 36% of voters approve, 52% disapprove, and 12% did not offer an opinion.
This compares to July 2025, when 39% approved, 50% disapproved, and 11% did not offer an opinion.
1,133 self-identified registered voters nationwide were surveyed from Jan. 8-12 with a margin of error of +/- 3.7 percentage points, including the design effect.
