A love of coffee inspired Ziqa (Zack) Ullah to take a leap of faith and start a new business after arriving in the U.S. only 13 years ago at age 30. His vision for offering a space where customers can connect, unwind, and experience coffee crafted from seven different regions, became a reality last month when he celebrated the grand opening of 7Beans, a coffee shop located at 782 Federal Road in Brookfield.
“Opening a coffee shop has always been my dream. I have a deep passion for coffee culture and the way it brings people together,” Ullah said. “The inspiration comes from wanting to create a gathering place where people can find comfort, inspiration, and a sense of community – as I’ve always envisioned.”
Ullah acknowledges the retail coffee business is a competitive industry, but he, along with a staff of seven, is ready for the challenge.
“We set ourselves apart by focusing on quality, authenticity, and choice. Our coffee is freshly ground to order, and customers can select beans from seven unique regions. This personalized approach, combined with our cozy atmosphere and attentive service, ensures every visit is a memorable experience,” said Ullah who oftentimes can be found behind the counter.
Ullah designed it to be cozy and inviting, featuring a sleek rustic farmhouse-style ambiance with wood tables, modern orange chairs, glass cases, and a coffee-themed mural.
According to Brookfield Community Development Specialist Greg Dembowski, 7Beans is among several new business in opening in town over the past several months.
“Zack (Ullah) is among a group of other franchisees and entrepreneurs who have opened store fronts along Brookfield’s commercial corridor on Federal Road,” he said. “In 2025, for example, several restaurants reopened with new menus, and the Food Emporium opened in the heart of the Town Center District.
“The Economic Development Commission in partnership with the Greater Danbury Chamber are hosting two ribbon cuttings a month – a trend that we hope continues. I have been talking to business owners who tell me they are pleased with the activity they are seeing in their stores. Offering variety to shoppers and residents is complimentary to everything Brookfield has to offer.”
A large portion of the 7Beans menu focuses on coffee.
“Our coffee is locally sourced, and sustainability is very important to us; we strive to support local suppliers and maintain environmentally friendly practices,” Ullah said.
The menu includes iced coffee, hot coffee, iced and hot tea, Turkish coffee, and mocktails.
As for the name, it was inspired by the seven regions the café’s coffee beans are sourced from, Ullah said. He described the coffee as “refinement in a cup.” The coffee beans are harvested with care, curated to feature a wide range of bold, balanced, and nuanced flavor profiles and roasted in small batches by passionate artisans, to preserve peak flavor and aroma.
“There is a growing trend toward specialty coffees and personalized experiences,” he added. “Customers are seeking high-quality beans, unique blends, and the opportunity to explore flavors from around the world.”
The menu also includes variety of fresh food options, including bagels; muffins; danish; mini chocolate lava cakes; tarts; macarons; cheesecake; Mediterranean Kessh; bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, and more. Many of the baked goods are made on-site daily.
For Ullah, who also owns the Edible Arrangements franchise business, this is his first venture building a business from scratch. “I’ve always been dedicated to learning, growing, and serving others,” he said. “The journey is new, but my commitment to excellence and hospitality is strong, and I’m excited to bring my vision to life.”
Looking ahead, Ullah plans to improve the business.
“Our long-term goal is growth, both in serving more people and deepening our roots in the community,” he added. “We hope to expand our offerings, reach new neighborhoods, and continue evolving to meet the needs of our guests.”
