NORWALK — The OnWashington Entrepreneur Contest returns for a fourth year, AGW SONO Partners announced today.
Produced by the collective’s OnWashington marketing arm, the annual competition invites entrepreneurs to pitch original business concepts for the opportunity to win a free one-month pop-up commercial space in the Washington Street Historic District in South Norwalk.
The contest continues AGW SONO Partners’ mission of activating underutilized spaces and transforming them into vibrant community destinations. The organization has said the initiative allows entrepreneurs to test new ideas while contributing to the evolving energy of Washington Street.
AGW SONO Partners manages 27 properties along the corridor, encompassing restaurants, retail, office space, and lifestyle services, and launched the OnWashington brand to support tenants while promoting Washington Street as a unified destination.
Last year’s contest attracted more than 30 submissions from local entrepreneurs, with concepts ranging from antique and floral shops to health and beauty brands, fitness studios, cafés, and photography spaces.
Previous winners include The Art Annex, which operated as a gallery supporting local artists, and Eco Evolution, founded by sustainability advocate “Eco Dude” Brad Kerner. Eco Evolution’s pop-up at 135 Washington St. was so successful that it transitioned into a long-term lease and remains in operation.
“We’re looking for an enthusiastic entrepreneur with a progressive concept and a thoughtful business plan,” said Linda Kavanagh, director of OnWashington. “Our South Norwalk portfolio continues to attract fresh ideas and talented business owners who are re-energizing the street for locals and visitors alike.”
Entrepreneurs selected as finalists will pitch their concepts to the AGW SONO Partners and OnWashington teams. The 2026 contest winner will receive a one-month pop-up opportunity on Washington Street, providing a real-world environment to test products, engage customers, gather feedback, and refine operations.
“Since acquiring the Washington Street portfolio, our goal has been to establish the Historic District as a premier destination to live, work, and play,” said Adam Greenbaum, AGW SONO Partners managing partner. “We’re proud to offer this opportunity and excited to support local entrepreneurs as they bring new ideas to life.”
