Heart of Gold event in Stamford honors two

The Volunteer Center of United Way of Western Connecticut will host its annual Heart of Gold Award Dinner Wednesday, April 9, at the Stamford Marriott from 6 to 9 p.m.

Tim Brown, president and CEO of Nestlé Waters North America will be honored. Under his leadership, Nestlé Waters North America “has promoted and encouraged a spirit of volunteerism through having a month dedicated to employee volunteerism, and establishing an internal group of employee volunteer coordinators from NWNA plants and offices across the country who convene in Stamford to learn and share best practices.”

The 2014 Roberta K. Eichler Heart of Gold Scholarship went to Rachel Katz. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually to support the education of a student volunteer. Throughout high school, Katz distinguished herself as a youth basketball coach, a mentor to children with severe special needs and a long-time friend to a young woman with developmental disabilities.

Skystream adds new adviser

Skystream Markets Inc., a provider of institutional transaction services for Renewable Energy Certificates and other environmental markets, announced Satish S. Nandapurkar”™s appointment to the company”™s board of advisers.

Nandapurkar previously served as president and CEO of the Chicago Climate Exchange, overseeing business operations and market development as well as its subsidiary, the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange. He served as a U.S. Air Force officer, leaving as a captain in 1993. He holds degrees from MIT (undergraduate) and from Boston University (graduate).

Printing and graphic design company turns 35

Douglas Forms and Printing Inc., a Norwalk-based printing and graphic design firm, celebrated its 35th anniversary April 1.

Douglas Forms, which serves clients throughout Fairfield County and parts of New Haven and Litchfield counties, designs and prints full-color promotional materials of all kinds, as well as business forms, checks, envelopes, tags and labels, imprinted promotional products, gift cards and newer innovations in the industry, including “pressure-seal” self-mailers and forms with integrated cards and labels. The company also handles graphic design for jobs it does not print, such as advertising and website banners.

Owner and founder Doug Moss grew up in Norwalk and now lives in Westport.

Quinnipiac appoints digital officer

Keith Rhodes of Fairfield has been appointed vice president and chief digital communications officer at Quinnipiac University in Hamden.

Rhodes will be responsible for planning, leading and directing all of Quinnipiac”™s digital strategies and initiatives to create a digital/online presence “that will engage the university”™s external and internal audiences.”

Rhodes arrives with more than 20 years in digital media. Most recently, he was senior vice president and group director at the Young & Rubicam Group of New York, where he spent five years leading a multi-agency team that provided marketing services for Land Rover North America. He holds an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College and a bachelor”™s in marketing from Quinnipiac.

Cushman & Wakefield names top producers

Cushman & Wakefield”™s Fairfield County office completed transactions on almost 2 million square feet, including office, retail, medical and industrial space over the course of last year. Cushman & Wakefield”™s top producers in the Stamford, CT office included Adam Klimek, director; Al Mirin, executive director; Steve Baker, senior director; Jay Hruska, vice chairman; Gerry Lees, senior director; Maureen O”™Boyle, senior director; and Trip Hoffman, senior director.

Lambda Legal adds Stafstrom to board

John F. Stafstrom Jr., a partner in the Bridgeport office of Pullman & Comley L.L.C., was appointed to the board of directors of Lambda Legal, the nation”™s first legal organization dedicated to achieving full equality for lesbian and gay people, the law firm announced today.

Stafstrom joins the board as its 31st member and will help the organization through litigation, education and public policy work “to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV.” Prior to joining the board, Stafstrom had served for 10 years on Lambda Legal”™s National Leadership Council, joining a group of volunteers who developed financial resources to support the mission of the organization.

April 25: “Cyberblade,” a group show of 20 area artists will open with a reception April 25 from 5-8 p.m. at the Richter Arts Center, 100 Aunt Hack Road, Danbury. The show will continue on Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27 from 2-5 p.m.
