Alison and Ron Malloy, the brother-sister team whose Design2Launch software company was hatched in Stamford and sold to Kodak for $23 million in 2008, will speak Oct. 2 at the Stamford Innovation Center.
The event, from 6 to 9 p.m., is billed as a celebration of Design2Launch, which the Malloys started in 2000. The SIC in its first two years has become a hub for tech-themed education, collaboration and entrepreneurship.
A software sales executive from Design2Launch also is slated to speak.
According to the Old Town Hall-based SIC, with Design2Launch the Malloys created a new category of software that is now called “enterprise packaging workflow.” Their “Brand Manager” platform is used by marketing and creative teams in industries that include pharmaceutical, food and beverage, automotive and consumer packaged goods, according to the SIC. The software helps link design and critical data like ingredients, trademark and warnings to produce product labels “that are both accurate and attractive.”
Early in its evolution, Design2Launch moved to Bank Street. Kodak continues to operate from the same downtown offices. Josh Fedeli, who now runs sales and accounts for Design2Launch, will participate in the October discussion.
“SIC is proud to be the home of some of the most innovative and exciting companies in our region,” said Barry Schwimmer, managing partner and founder of SIC, in a press release. “The Startup Success Story series spotlights the ”˜back story”™ of how hard-working teams overcome challenge after challenge to create businesses that scale. These individuals inspire us all and we are thrilled that Alison and Ron have agreed to share their story with our community.”
Preregistration is $10 and general admission is $15. The program includes dinner and drinks. Go to stamfordicenter.com for more information.
