Stamford-based Cengage Learning will take its platform to Westwood College with locations in six states and online to become the stage on which Westwood students learn.
Cengage is a provider of print and digital teaching, learning and research solutions for the academic, professional and library markets.
“Our aim is to provide high quality content and instructional support to ensure the most effective and rewarding learning experience for their students,” said Ron Mobed, president of Cengage Learning’s Academic & Professional Group. “Together, we will work to deliver the innovative curriculum that distinguishes Westwood’s academic programs, both in the classroom and online. We look forward to partnering with Westwood College.”
Mobed said the company will be providing a broad range of content assets and curriculum resources to strengthen the school’s offerings.
With the main location in Denver, Westwood College has 18 campuses across the country including an online campus, reaching more than 18,000 students with more than 25 associate, bachelor and master degree programs.
Mobed said Westwood College faculty provided input that contributed to the selection of Cengage to provide textbooks, online courseware and homework tools, as well as instructional design and online delivery expertise.
Eric Goodman, chief academic officer of Westwood, said the college”™s academic team considered several factors, including the breadth and quality of content assets, flexibility, experience with technology, and a strong focus on customer service.
“Our goal was to find a partner who shares Westwood College’s passion for improving the student experience, and can provide superior content and support for our faculty throughout the curriculum development process,” said Goodman. “We chose Cengage Learning because of this shared commitment, their deep expertise in discipline areas matching our diploma and degree programs and frankly, due to their lower cost structure, which will allow Westwood to pass these savings on to our students.”
