The Westchester/Greater Connecticut Chapter of the National Black M.B.A. Association will host two business networking events for local minority professionals June 12 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains, N.Y.
The chapter”™s second annual Entrepreneur Summit and Business Showcase will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, followed by its second annual Professional Diversity Career Summit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The entrepreneur summit assists business owners in moving their enterprises to the next level. Participants may exhibit their products and services and take part in forums that provide advice on growing their business. The “Financial Hour of Power” seminar offers assistance with preparing a business plan and financial documents and helps identify funding sources. Other sessions will include “Promoting Your Brand,” “Becoming the Preferred Supplier” and “Entrepreneur and Franchising Opportunities.”

The career summit will allow business professionals to discuss job opportunities with recruiters from Westchester and Fairfield-area corporations representing a wide variety of industries. The event”™s employment networking format is suited to seasoned employees. A new Business Spotlight session features corporate partners leading conversations about their company”™s key business initiatives.
The career summit is intended for diverse job seekers with a minimum of seven years”™ work experience, minority business and professional organizations and graduate business students from colleges and universities in Fairfield and Westchester counties. There is no registration fee, but a current resume is required. The National Black M.B.A. Association was formed in 1974 to lead in the creation of economic and intellectual wealth for the African-American community. It is a professional membership organization of black graduates with advanced degrees that now has 40 local chapters nationwide. The local chapter”™s mission is to help increase in number, as well as in diversity, successful blacks in the business community by providing innovative programs.
