Following Hurricane Sandy, U.S. auto sales increased 15 percent in November, according to Autodata.
More than 15 million cars were sold in the month, which is the highest sales have been since 2008.
Industry experts say the demand stems from hurricane victims replacing their cars that were either flooded or destroyed during the storm.
Additionally, Ford and Toyota managers told Automotive News that they believe the increase is also due to pent-up demand from the recession and more certainty now that the presidential election is over.
Toyota General Manager Bill Fay told the industry publication that he believes the strong sales will continue into December and  into the next year.
