The American College of Surgeons (ACoS) quality program the Commission on Cancer (CoC) granted a three-year accreditation to Bridgeport Hospital according to a September 6 press release. The hospital was recognized as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Program.
“This reaccreditation is a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing the best possible care to cancer patients. It is a recognition of our commitment to excellence and our continuous efforts to improve patient outcomes,” said Anne Diamond, DBA, JD, president of Bridgeport Hospital. “It’s also a result of the hard work and dedication of our highly skilled team of healthcare professionals who strive to deliver personalized, compassionate care to each and every patient.”
To earn the accreditation a cancer program needs to meet 34 quality care standards set by the CoC, which are revaluated every three years. The care standards include a review of processes and outcomes with an emphasis on the complete continuum of care ensuring that the hospital helps patients not only survive but maintain a high quality of life.
