
BRIDGEPORT – The city’s Grand List total net value dipped 1.7% in 2024 to $8.03 billion from $8.17 billion in 2023, according to city property records.
The total taxable net value of properties break down as follows:
- Real estate: $6.21 billion
- Personal property: $1.18 billion
- Motor vehicles: $663 million
The 2024 Grand List also includes $8.86 million in 25% tax penalties charged to 2,240 personal property accounts, which is up slightly from $8.84 million charged in 2023.
Real estate
The gross assessment for real estate in 2024 was $6.22 billion, which was flat compared to 2023. Real estate value by category is:
- Residential: $4.19 billion
- Commercial: $1.05 billion
- Industrial: $407 million
- Public utility: $94.5 million
- Vacant: $111.51 million
- Apartments: $371.20 million
Personal property
The gross assessment for personal property in 2024 was $1.28 billion, which was down slightly from 2023 when it was $1.30 billion. Personal property value by category is:
- Industrial mechanical and electrical services (M&E): $268.50 million
- Manufacturing M&E: $56.38 million
- Cables/conduits/etc…: $599.71 million
Tax exemptions
There was a total of $140.56 million in tax exemptions as part of the 2024 Grand List. That includes 255 exemptions for $117.48 million in personal property, 2,044 exemptions for $16.80 million in real estate, and 493 exemptions for $6.30 million in motor vehicle.
