Building and Land Technology, the developer of Stamford’s Harbor Point, has agreed to renovate a new space for the Loft Artist Association.
For the past 27 years, Loft artists have held dozens of events and exhibitions in the south end of Stamford to promote the arts and help shape the neighborhood.
In exchange for additional Loft workshops for the general public, BLT has agreed to renovate a new 7,000-square-foot space for the group, to open by September.
“We are pleased that we can keep this long standing institution of art and culture in the south end as the neighborhood continues to transform into a dynamic mixed-use area,” said Carl Kuehner, BLT CEO, in a press release. “The Loft artists are an important part of the community and BLT has always been committed to working with the community to help make a better city for everyone.”
The charity-like act is one of several initiatives BLT has agreed to as it ramps up its Harbor Point project. By the end of construction, the development will include 400,000 square feet of office space and 130,000 square feet of retail. The developer has also agreed to renovate an animal shelter.
