Amazon has contributed more than $10 billion to Connecticut’s GDP and has invested more than $12 billion in the state since 2010, the online commerce retailer reported.
In its 2025 economic impact report that was estimated by Keystone Strategy, the Seattle-based company also reported that it has more than 15,000 full- and part-time employees across the state and supports more than 10,000 indirect jobs across the state, in industries like construction, logistics and professional services.
The report is part of Amazon’s efforts to measure its sustainability and corporate giving in the community it serves.
The highlights include:
Renewable energy commitment: It has six solar farms and six sites with on-site solar operating across Connecticut.
New facility: In October 2025, Amazon opened a 202,000-square-foot delivery station in Plainfield — serving customers across Eastern Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island,. It is equipped with charging stations to support Amazon’s custom electric delivery vehicles. Also, Amazon operates 11 delivery stations and 13 Whole Foods Market locations.
Career advancement at scale: More than 2,100 Connecticut employees have participated in Career Choice since 2019, with Amazon partnering with educational institutions statewide. Amazon’s Career Choice connects employees to tomorrow’s opportunities through prepaid education and skills training.
Volunteering in communities: Beyond jobs and infrastructure, Amazon is deepening its roots in Connecticut communities. In addition to the delivery of more than 900,000 meals to Connecticut neighbors in need, Amazon employees also contributed more than 700 volunteer hours and helped connect more than 20,000 students and 800 teachers to computer science learning opportunities.
The company’s economic impact in Connecticut has bucked its national trend somewhat as it announced it was cutting about 16,000 jobs in the latest round of tech industry layoffs in January. Those reductions followed October 2025 layoffs of 14,000 workers.
