Ability Beyond, a Bethel-based nonprofit that serves people with developmental disabilities, recently received another three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
The three-year accreditation is the highest level awarded by the commission. For the accreditation, the organization had to demonstrate that its programs and services met the commission’s standards through a peer-review process and an on-site visit by surveyors.
Ability Beyond officials said in a press release that in signing off on the accreditation, surveyors noted the expansion and creation of new programs and services that allow individuals supported by the agency to explore different career paths and tangible skills. The nonprofit also was recognized for its long-tenured leadership and management staff as well as fundraising success.
The organization provides job training and placement, supported living, and recreational and educational services to more than 2,500 people in Connecticut and New York.
