It’s the tiniest month (even with an extra day, Feb. 29, for leap year this year). But in many ways, it’s also the mightiest.
Sure, December is the favorite, with some of the most important and famous holidays. But arriving in the dead of what many consider to be the harshest season, festive February knows how to dangle the distractions, in part to make everyone forget that the month is indeed the August of winter.
We begin with the start of Black History Month today – Thursday, Feb. 1. (See our related post in this newsletter.) Then all this week and the next four in Wake Up With Westfair (WWW), we’ll be celebrating Groundhog Day (Friday, Feb. 2), which is also National Wear Red Day for American Heart Month; Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 10); lunar new year (Feb. 11); Abraham Lincoln’s birthday (Feb. 12); Galentine’s Day and Mardi Gras (Feb. 13); Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14, also Ash Wednesday this year, ushering in Lent); Feb. 19 (Presidents’ Day); George Washington’s birthday (Feb. 22); and Leap Day (Feb. 29).
Have we left anyone or anything out? Exhausted already? Get set to mark your calendars as WWW brings you a month of places to go, people to meet and things to do and see.
It’s all courtesy of fab Feb.
