Feb. 10 ushers in the 15-day lunar new year, with this being the Year of the Dragon, symbolizing honor, luck, nobility, power and success in a time of change and challenge.
To honor their native traditions, restaurateurs K Dong and chef Steven Chen will celebrate at their newest restaurant, Moli, with the launch of a new dim sum brunch menu and a live Lion Dance on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. The team has partnered with fashion designer and philanthropist Andy Yu to bring a new dish to the Sunday brunch menu.
On a December episode of Martha Stewart’s show “Martha Cooks,” Yu – who has dined at Moli with husband Evan Goldstein, M.D., Stewart and record mogul Clive Davis, all northern Westchester residents – created his flower dumplings as he seeks to channel the power of food, art and culture to connect and unite different societies.
“Our goal is to celebrate our culture and share it with others in the community,” Dong said as well. “Andy is talented and has great ideas. It’s been a real pleasure working with him to bring the celebration to life in town. Our team is excited to present new food and drink specials at the restaurant in celebrating the Year of the Dragon. I hope the community enjoys our Lion Dance, and we encourage people to visit the restaurant to take part in the festivities.”
Greenwich First Selectman, Fred Camillio, will join the fun at Moli for this the town’s inaugural lunar new year event. “I am so proud to be in a diverse community that celebrates cultures from around the world. It’s wonderful to have restaurants and businesses in town that attract people from all over, making Greenwich Avenue a worldwide destination.”
Moli plans to extend specials throughout the month and sell one-of-a-kind souvenirs that will feature the Year of the Dragon and the restaurant’s brand. Proceeds from the dim sum brunch and the custom Year of the Dragon souvenirs will support a nonprofit selected by the restaurant in partnership with Yu, whose threefold passions are food, fashion and philanthropy.
