Among the Black-owned business partners that FreshDirect is spotlighting during Black History Month — including Partake allergy-free snacks; A Dozen Cousins ready-to-heat beans; Spoonful oats; and Don Carvahal Café – is McBride Sisters wine.
Founded in 2005 by siblings Robin and Andréa, McBride Sisters is designed to combine European elegance with American finesse to cater to diverse palates. As the largest women-owned winery in the United States, McBride Sisters established the She Can Professional Development Fund in 2019 to advance women in the wine industry, address gender and race gaps and create new opportunities.
Just like the McBride sisters, who began with $1,500 and a dream, Stephanie Franklin of Fly Wines is doing the same.
Franklin started Fly Wines during Covid after the loss of her mother and a good friend practically back-to-back, quitting her career in advertising technology to live her dreams, one sip at a time. Since its start last May, Fly Wines has already been providing wine experiences to top-tier companies like LegalZoom, Soho House and The Mina Group.
