On Thursday, Jan. 25, Charles Mallory, founder and CEO of the Delamar Hotels, and wife Georgette Mallory, who oversees the hotels’ spa, inaugurated the Delamar Southport Spa with a fabulous party that paid tribute to the community and surrounding businesses as well, in the tradition of the Mallorys’ business model.
Guests wandered through the elegant gray and wood spa’s three treatment rooms, sauna and relaxation lounge, observing treatments and enjoying hors d’oeuvres by Frederic Kieffer, executive chef of L’escale at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor and the Artisan restaurants at the Delamar Southport and the Delamar West Hartford, as well as a BR Specialty Cocktail. (The drink – inspired by Biologique Recherche’s Serum Collagene, among the luxe products used in the spa – includes Hendrick’s gin, crème de violette, Blue Curaçao, fresh squeezed lemon juice, chilled Champagne and Luxardo cherries.)
But it was also a night for related local businesses to shine, including BE Chocolat, a Fairfield-based Belgian chocolate company that is the Delamars’ in-house chocolate; Barvida organic vegan juice bar and café in Darien and New Canaan, Uss Wellness, offering physical and functional medicine; and physical therapist Caroline Mazza, the last two both based in Southport.
Among the items on sale in the spa – Charles Mallory’s compacts, which, he said, have an amusing story behind them that he promised to tell us over lunch on another day.
