Math lovers and foodies, rejoice. Today ”“ Tuesday, March 14 ”“ is Pi Day, celebrating the irrational number, named for a Greek letter, for the ratio of a circle”™s circumference to its diameter, roughly 3.14 or the fraction 22/7.
The celebration was founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw of the Exploratorium, a San Francisco-based museum devoted to science, art and human perception. Naturally, it”™s also a day to celebrate pies of all kinds, which is what”¯FreshDirect”¯is doing. Its offerings range from ”¯Roberta”™s Pizza, the original pizza from the acclaimed Arthur Avenue restaurant; to ”¯Peach Blueberry Crumb Pie to ”¯Buffalo chicken pie from Noble Pies, a family-owned bakery and farm in Warwick, New York.
Any way you slice it, Happy Pi(e) Day.
