A new study, conducted by U.S. immigration law experts Shoreline Immigration, puts Connecticut in the top 10 when it comes to what immigrants desire in a home base.
Shoreline analyzed data on the quality of health care and schools, job openings per 100,000 people, average house prices and salaries and the rate of violent crime per 100,000 people in each state to establish the best states to immigrate to.
Connecticut ranked sixth, following in order, New Hampshire, Wyoming, Virginia, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. Rounding out the top 10 in order were North Dakota, Utah Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
The Nutmeg State had a final index score of 67.13 out of 100 – with an average salary of $84,972, 35.3% higher than the national average and the highest average salary in the top 10 states. Connecticut also has the second-lowest violent crime rate in the top 10 at 150 per 100,000 people.
Lindsey Harris, Shoreline Immigration’s managing attorney, has commented on the study: “In 2021, around 1.5 million people moved to the United States from overseas. With New Hampshire being named the best state to live in, this study suggests the location should expect high levels of migration in 2024. It is also interesting to note that most states mentioned are based in the East – including Rhode Island, Connecticut and Pennsylvania – indicating that these may also experience migration in the new year.”
